History

Our origin: Yamato Transport Co., Ltd. (大和運輸株式会社), which is a forerunner of Yamato Transport (ヤマト運輸), was established in November 1919. Transportation business using chartered trucks (4 trucks) started in the Kyobashi Ward of Tokyo.

1947 Feb. Started packaging and shipping service of household goods/furniture for occupation forces.
1950 Sep. Obtained customs broker license which was authorized by Tokyo Customs.
1951 Jan. Conducted an agent contract with C.A.T (Civil Air) Taiwanese Airlines Corporation and started the handling of air freight.
1953 Sep. Obtained customs broker license which was authorized by Yokohama Customs.
1955 Mar. Certified as a freight-handling agent by the International Air Transport Association (IATA). Conducted agent agreement with prominent domestic and international airline companies.
1957 Jun. Started business alliance with Allied Van Lines, Inc. of the United States.
(Created and started to use the logo of a mother cat and kitten (trademark) around this time.)
1960 Feb. Started consolidated air cargo operations destined for New York.
From 1970
1970 Mar. Obtained general unrestricted license of port transport industry.
1971 Dec. Started CY/CFS operations at Yokohama Port.
1976 Jan. Started international moving operations.
(Started TA-Q-BIN service in Japan around this time.)
1982 Apr. Obtained license of solo handling of consolidated air cargo.
1983 Dec. Started International TA-Q-BIN service.
1987 Feb. Started UPS TA-Q-BIN service.
From 1990
1990 Feb. In the field of air cargo business, Yamato UPS Co., Ltd., a joint venture company with UPS, was established. (Yamato Transport 50%, UPS 50%)
1999 Nov. Established Yamato UPS International Air Cargo Co., Ltd. (Wholly owned by Yamato UPS Co., Ltd.; The company later became a forerunner of our company.)
2000 Apr. Yamato UPS International Air Cargo Co., Ltd. received business transfer from Yamato UPS Co., Ltd. and started business. (Yamato Transport 51%, UPS Japan 49%)
2002 Oct. The company name was changed to Yamato Global Freight Co., Ltd. wholly owned by Yamato Transport Co., Ltd. (Yamato Transport 100%)
2003 Apr. Ocean freight service, international moving service, and fine arts transportation business, were integrated.
2004 Oct. The company name was changed to Yamato Logistics Co., Ltd.
2008 Aug. The company name was changed to Yamato Global Logistics Japan Co., Ltd. (Yamato Holdings 70%, NYK 30%)
2014 Sep. Wholly owned by Yamato Holdings Co., Ltd. (Yamato Holdings 100%)
